Quarterly barometer | Market insights

Writer: Conrad BindingConrad Binding

  • This quarterly Opinion Poll tracks sentiment in the housing market, based on the experience of estate agents across the UK.

  • With inflation falling to just 2.3% and the base rate widely expected to be cut soon, 64% of agents say buyer confidence is significantly or slightly improved compared to three months ago.

  • Almost half of agents say that sales listings have increased. As more sellers return to the market, the number of homes for sale has reached an eight-year high.

  • Despite the rise in confidence, the rate of withdrawals has remained the same over the past three months.

  • As the rental market heads into its typically busier summer season and properties get snapped up quicker, 41% of agents report lower stock levels. Source: #Dataloft by PriceHubble (poll of subscribers) May 2024
